El tamoxifeno es un medicamento relacionado con el estrógeno. Se le llama agonista/antagonista, porque bloquea las acciones del estrógeno y al mismo tiempo produce algunas acciones similares al estrógeno. El tamoxifeno se usa principalmente para la prevención y tratamiento del cáncer de seno.

Substance: Tangeretina

Effect: Posible Interacción Dañina

La tangeretina es un bioflavonoide encontrado en frutas cítricas y algunos suplementos de bioflavonoides cítricos. Estudios en animales sugieren que un alto consumo de tangeretina reduce la efectividad del tamoxifeno.1 Por esta razón, las personas que usan tamoxifeno deberían evitar suplementos que contengan tangeretina, y probablemente también deberían evitar el consumo excesivo de frutas cítricas.

Substance: Isoflavonas de Soya

Effect: Interacción Mezclada

Como el tamoxifeno, las isoflavonas de soya tienen acciones tanto similares al estrógeno como anti-estrógeno. Estudios de probeta y en animales, sugieren que dosis relativamente bajas de isoflavonas de soya interfieren con la capacidad del tamoxifeno para inhibir el crecimiento del cáncer de seno, pero dosis altas de isoflavonas aumentan la efectividad del tamoxifeno.1
