Se cree que la hierba ginkgo incrementa la circulación y protege de daño a las células nerviosas. Con base en esto, se ha propuesto como un posible tratamiento para ayudar a proteger al nervio auditivo del daño causado por los aminoglicósidos. Sin embargo, el único estudio realizado en animales para evaluar este posible beneficio encontró por el contrario, que la hierba incrementó el daño al nervio auditivo.1 Con base en este hallazgo, las personas que toman medicamentos aminoglicósidos deberían evitar el ginkgo.
