Your care will be with kidney specialist. It will focus on stopping or delaying:

  • More harm to the kidneys
  • Complications caused by chronic kidney disease (CKD)

CKD care depends on the stage. Dialysis treats severe CKD. It may be needed until a kidney transplantation is ready.

CKD can also be treated with:

  • Lifestyle changes
  • Medications
