Genital herpes is a lifelong condition with no cure. However, there are medications that you can take to treat the symptoms and reduce the frequency and severity of future outbreaks. Early treatment of the initial infection and future recurrences is important to decrease the chance of passing the infection to others and reduce the risk of complications in yourself.
