Single-blind study

A single-blind study is just like a double-blind study, except that the researchers know which group is receiving which treatment. This type of study is a bit questionable, as it allows for bias on the part of the doctors conducting the study. (Doctors can subtly convey confidence or a lack of it if they know who is receiving real treatment and who is not; they can also unconsciously bias their evaluation of the results.)
