Conditions InDepth: Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain disorder. It results in deep muscle aches with burning, tingling, throbbing, and intense and lasting pain. The exact cause is not known. Some things thought to play a role are:

  • Family history
  • Hormone problems
  • Stressors, such as infection, trauma, and mental stress
  • Nervous system problems
  • Vitamin deficiencies
