2012-Jan-10

(HealthDay News) -- Neck pain can stem from a variety of factors and conditions, from injury to a soft-tissue abnormality.

Most cases resolve on their own, but some require immediate diagnosis and treatment.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons offers this list of warning signs that you should call a doctor:

  • If you have severe pain stemming from an injury caused by a fall or car accident.
  • If your neck pain feels like it extends into the legs or arms.
  • If your pain is persistent and continuous.
  • If the pain is accompanied by tingling or weakness, numbness or headache.
