The goal of treatment is to reach and stay at a normal level of thyroid hormone in your body. This is reached by taking a thyroid hormone replacement pill.

You will likely need to take this for the rest of your life. The thyroid gland does not regrow.

You will be treated with:

Lifestyle changes
Medications

Surgery cannot treat hypothyroidism.
