Risk Factors for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)

A risk factor increases the chance of getting a disease or condition. It is possible to have BPH with or without the risk factors listed below. The risk of BPH increases with the number of risk factors you have. The doctor can talk to you about your risk factors and ways to reduce them.

Risk factors for BPH are:

Age —The risk of BPH increases with age, starting at about age 40. The risk increases as you age.
