Betaine hydrochloride is found in some foods and plants. It can be taken as a pill. It has been used to help produce stomach acid.
There are no advised doses for betaine hydrochloride.

It is likely safe to take betaine hydrochloride for a short time. Not enough studies have been done to say whether it is safe to use for a long period.
